Django Radio has long been a true online radio station. Or rather, a global, free and borderless music laboratory. Its uniqueness: eclectic programming fuelled mainly by rare dubplates, old vinyls and vintage cassette tapes.
For six years, the radio station has thrived thanks to the collective energy of artists, musicians and enthusiasts from around the world, who share their discoveries, forgotten gems and new tunes every week.
Today, due to a lack of time, Django Radio is just a precious interlude, a story of passion, community and musical freedom that lives on through a few live programmes on streaming platforms.
As for the name Django Radio, it is inspired, as it could not be otherwise, by a bar where this concept was conceived, a bar in the 20th arrondissement of Paris frequented by Django Reinhardt, a nod to the musician's free and nomadic spirit...
My name is Laurent. Not Django, as some people think.
I've been passionate about radio since I was 13, when I started working at a small community radio station in the Paris suburbs. That's where I learned instinct, listening skills and the raw energy of live broadcasting. At 16, I was recruited by a leading presenter at a major FM station, a significant step that, after my A-levels, allowed me to make it my career for good. From Paris to Barcelona, Buenos Aires to Berlin, I have always been guided by this obsession with sound, voices and stories to tell. And also by that little red light that gently illuminates the studio when the live broadcast finally begins...
As a producer, presenter and concept creator, I have explored radio as a permanent testing ground.
Today, true to this free spirit, I continue to invent spaces where live broadcasting, music and people remain at the centre...
